1987 Gibson Les Paul Custom (Arctic White)

This guitar was a graduation gift from my parents--one of the most amazing gifts I've ever received. I've always believed Les Pauls are the most elegant of electric guitars (and the heaviest:)
This guitar nearly met a catastrophic end in 1989 while I was living in the dorms at the UofA. A friend of my brother knocked it off its stand, cracking the neck, right at the nut, and nearly snapping off the headstock. After a large payoff from the culprit's insurance company, I was able to have the neck repaired, only needing to be re-glued once.
In it's earlier incarnation, I had this guitar loaded with EMG pickups and electronics, which I may go back to. I had 89s in both the neck and bridge position, with push/pull volume pots that split the coils. Also included was an active tone control (Expander) that dials in a "V" tone. This setup made the guitar quite versatile. The 4 Pigs material on the site, plus the 1997 Funky Bonz stuff was recorded with this setup, when I used the Les Paul.
- Neck pickups: Gibson PAF
- Bridge pickup: Seymour Duncan Screamin' Demon - info
- Bridge: Kahler locking tremolo - I removed the locking nut and the bridge has a bolt through it that locks it to the body. These things just aren't good, but I like the fine tuners
- All of the hardware has been replaced by gold Allparts replacements (pickguard, volume & tone knobs, pickup selector plate & knob, truss rod cover, pickup mounting rings)
- Sperzel Locking Tuners - buy
